The Whitehorse’s climate
Whitehorse is a city which has a subarctic climate. There are 145 cm of snow every year. The temperature when we go in Canada in May is 6.6°C but it’s possible that in this month is between 0.4°C and 12.7°C. The maximal temperature is in the month of July with 14.0°C and the minimal is in the month of January with -18.7°C. In the year there are 268.6 mm of rain, and for the month of May there are only 14.4 mm. That’s why we should wear hot clothes: k-way for the weather raining and pullover for the walk in height.

Whitehorse est une ville qui a un climat subarctique. Il y a 145 cm de neige tous les ans. La température lorsque nous irons au Canada, en mai, sera de 6.6°C mais il est possible qu’elle soit entre 0.4°C et 12.7°C. La température maximale au mois de juillet est de 14.0°C et la température minimum est au mois de janvier avec -18.7°C. Dans l’année il y a 268.6 mm de pluie et pour le mois de mai il y aura 14.4 mm. C’est pourquoi nous devrons porter des vêtements chauds : K-way pour le temps pluvieux et pull pour les promenades en altitude. |

There is 34 000 000 residents in Canada. They come from a lot of countries , for example England, France, Germany…. 75% of them are catholics. The Yukon in numbers : - 33 442 residents - 75% of descendants of foreigners - 0.06 residents/km² - 2/3 of the people in Whitehorse, the biggest city ( 22 000 )
There are a lot of Indians, like the Tutchones. They constitute a people with their own culture. The two most importants cities are Whitehorse ( 22 000 residents ) and Dawson city ( 1250 ). The Yukon had been populate during the gold rush. That’s why there is only digger’s cities.

Nature:
There is only 31 000 people in Yukon on more than 400 000km² The Canada’s biggest mount is the Logan mount (5959m) in the Yukon. A third of mountain, a third of borealis forest and a third of tundra. It’s a natural landscape with little city. There are 2 big naturals parks in the Yukon: Tombstone and Kluane. This is in the Klunae Park that there is the biggest mount and 5 summits of more than 4500m. A lot of animals populate this territory with, in particular, the grizzly. Canada is a territory containing many lakes. The temperature is included between -25° and 20°C. In the Yukon, aurora borealis are enough frequent.

How to survive in Whitehorse… Food & Drinks In Whitehorse, there’re some food we’re not really used to eat:
Regional specialities: ○ Moose meat (élan): smoking or pot roasting (accompanied by sourdough and vegetables. ○ Dall sheep (mouflon), mountain goat (chèvre des montagnes), caribou, porcupine cooking in burgers ○ Wild fish including Arctic grayling, trout, Kokanee salmon, Alaska king crab and halibut. ○ Buffalo burger, musk ox chops and Alaska salmon.
Regional drinks: ○ Hooch (Canadian rum, only available in Yukon) ○ Beers and ales from the Chilkoot Brewing Company.
